Call For Panelists – Black & Brown in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
The MIW planning committee is seeking STEM professionals to serve as panelists for a Black & Brown in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) panel. The goal of this panel is to take a multi-disciplinary look at people of color in the STEM workforce and discuss their experiences. Panelists may be STEM professionals working in their respective fields or individuals with a STEM degree who have a role outside of STEM.
According to a Pew Research Center report, “the majority of STEM workers in the U.S. are white (69%), followed by Asians (13%), blacks (9%) and Hispanics (7%).” African American and Latina/Latino individuals make up roughly 16% of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) workforce.
